Review of Married Melody

Today I took the opportunity to review the blog of Married Melody, at the request of its author. Married Melody is the name of the blog, as well as the chosen nickname of the author. Melody states in her About page that she will be writing about blog tips, making money on line and blogging social life.

Melody has done a nice job adapting the Cutline theme. Her header is nice, displaying flowers and a pair of wedding rings. It fits with her name but not her stated purpose for the blog. It takes fifteen clicks to get from the top of the blog to the bottom. I would suggest she consider moving the long blogroll onto a page of its own. That would shorten the length of the page as well as minimize the amount of google juice that list gives out. If she doesn’t want to go that route she can also consider a scrollbar.

There are only a few posts up as of today. These posts have a nice length. It is very clear that both time and thought are put into the advice she is offering. As I read her posts I got the distinct feeling that I was being read to. The words I, me and my are used a little too often for my taste in this type of article. What I as a reader would like to see is a more conversational style of writing. Draw the reader in and make him/her feel involved. Talk to the reader instead of at the reader.

I can’t really say any more because the blog is so new. Good luck Melody!
