How to host multiple domains on a shared hosting account in cpanel

A number of bloggers have more than one blog. Now when I first got a domain I thought all domains were hosted individually. Silly me. When I chose my webhost, Surpass Hosting, I found out that you can host multiple domains on one account. I currently have several blogs hosted on one shared domain, accessible from one control panel. It’s fairly simple to set up.

This howto is geared for someone whose hosting provides cpanel access. Presume you have one domain which is myfirstdomain.com and that your second domain is myseconddomain.com. At your domain registrar, set your nameservers for myseconddomain.com to whatever your nameservers for myfirstdomain.com are. Now log into your cpanel and go to the domains section and click add on domains. Enter myseconddomain.com as the domain name you want to add, and fill in the password fields. Click add domain. Now click go back and you’ll see an area that says modify add on domain. Next to the domain name you’ve just added click manage redirection. Delete everything in the field shown and click save. All done. Now, when you go into your public_html directory, you will see a new folder just for your myseconddomain.com. You are now hosting two domains on one shared account. That means your second site is visible both at myseconddomain.com and myseconddomain.myfirstdomain.com. That’s all there is to it.
