Wordpress comments, trackbacks and pingbacks
You probably know what a comment is. Many bloggers love interacting with their visitors via the comments. I try to answer comments because I think it’s a way of conversing with a visitor and showing them that I appreciate the time they took to visit my blog. You may or may not know what a trackback is. The simplest way I can explain a trackback is that it’s a way that I am notified if you write something on your blog that references my blog. The trackback contains the title of your post, the name of your site, an excerpt of what you wrote and a link to your site . A pingback does the same thing except it only contains the link to your post. Usually trackbacks appear in with the comments of a post. The problem with that is it ends up looking pretty messy. Today I found a post that solves that problem. It’s a tutorial entitled How To Separate Wordpress Comments and Trackbacks. If you get a lot of comments and would like them to look a bit more ordered go check this out. It’s easy to understand, just be sure to make a backup of your comments file before starting in the unlikely event you run into a problem changing the code as shown in the tutorial. I put it in place on I know EVERYTHING - just ask my hubby and Fun, Crafts and Recipes and am very pleased. If you decide to try it, let me know how you like it!
