Twitter

When I first learned about Twitter I signed up for it but didn’t do anything with it. Only in the last couple of months have I begun to use it. I see Twitter as sort of a combination between text messaging, instant messaging and blogging. It started out as a way to let other people know what you’re doing, but has evolved into much more. You can use Twitter, or “Tweet”, from the web or from a mobile phone. The maximum amount of characters your message can have is 140. It’s very social, you can follow (my son calls it stalk) others and be aware of their tweets almost as soon as they’re made. Twitter has gotten so popular that other applications have been created just for it, some of which I’ll be taking a look at on this blog. There’s a lot more to Twitter, this is just a basic intro for those unfamiliar. Twitter is free to sign up for, just provide your email and some basic info and choose your screen name and you’re set. Do you use Twitter?

  1. Twitter is something I’ve been hearing about forever, and still haven’t gotten aound to using. The only reason I would consider using it would be to get traffic to my website, but I haven’t heard from too mnay people doing that successfuly, so I guess the jury’s still out about whether I will eventually give in.

To me the same.. I heard about twitter from one blog.. signed up but then ever saw the point of a 140 character blog posting system!, however once you get “conversations” going with followers then it becomes a more hooked up worthwhile experience.
